Japan Fes lands today, The Haunt runs its last weekend, and early voting wraps Sunday the festival moved from Saturday to today at Anderson Plaza, Little Haunters owns Halloween afternoon at Wildcliff, and the last early voting day is Sunday (3 min)

Halloween weekend in New Rochelle used to be one big Saturday. This year it split into three days, and the split works in your favor. Japan Fes moved from Saturday, October 31 to today, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Anderson Plaza, and the move checks out on both ends: the organizers announced it, and the city calendar now lists the festival under today. One day for the street festival, one day for the haunted house, one day to vote.

The weekend as it stands this morning: today brings Japan Fes 10:00 to 6:00, early voting 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and The Haunt 7:00 to 10:30 at Wildcliff Mansion. Saturday is Halloween, sunny with a high near 60, with early voting 10:00 to 6:00, Little Haunters from 4:00 PM, and The Haunt again at 7:00. Sunday, everything winds down together: early voting takes its last ballots 10:00 to 6:00, and The Haunt's final show starts at 6:30.

One catch before Saturday. The producer's own page lists Little Haunters at 4:00 to 8:00 PM, while the city calendar's listing says 4:00 to 7:30. Plan around the earlier end and neither version can burn you. The family version runs with the lights, sound and fog on and no jump scares, with trick-or-treating at the end, timed entry at 12 dollars a person per the city's listing.

If the week got away from you, one of the three days still fits. Check the Japan Fes move against the organizer's page before you head downtown, because street festivals move, and this one did. Saturday stacks everything, so build in time for crowds.

Search answers

The questions New Rochelle searches this week, answer first, source after.

Is Japan Fes still happening this weekend in New Rochelle?

Yes, but only on Friday now. The organizers moved the festival from Saturday, October 31 to Friday, October 30, and it runs 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Anderson Plaza downtown. The city calendar carries the same date and window. If Saturday was your only open day, the new plan is simple: go today, or wait for the next festival, because on Saturday the plaza goes back to being a regular plaza.

City Hall

The number under the LINC moment, and a homegrown sustainability award 5,500 vehicles an hour, six intersections flagged in 2023, and a New Rochelle company takes a global nod (2 min)

The moment people noticed in Tuesday's State of the City was the mayor getting emotional about the LINC. The number worth keeping sits underneath it: 5,500 vehicles an hour on the corridor. Reporting after the speech paired that figure with the city's 2023 environmental impact study, which flagged six intersections where engineers predicted problems the proposed design could not fix. The Memorial Highway overpass removal still sits ahead, so the traffic question is open, and it stays open until the city shows where the cars go.

The good news on the same beat is homegrown. Dwayne R. Norris, co-founder and chief operating officer of a New Rochelle clean-energy training company, won a 2026 Global Sustainability Individual Changemaker Award. He co-founded the company in 2013, and it has put training and employment within reach of more than 14,000 people, built on clean-energy skills, construction skills and workplace safety. The company name sits one click away in the source link below. This is the same lane the city's own workforce programs run in, which makes the recognition feel less like a trophy and more like a signal.

Okay. Two ways to follow both: LINC answers will surface in board and IDA agendas before anywhere else, and the award coverage links to the company's own site. Watch the documents, not the speeches.

AI Corner: one plain-English AI thing, every issue

This week: when two event pages disagree, ask an AI to line them up.

Japan Fes moved dates this week. Little Haunters shows two end times depending on which page you read. This is the exact job a chat is good at: paste both texts in and ask for every difference in date, time, price and place, listed side by side. You get the conflict in seconds instead of squinting at two tabs.

Then do the human part. Before you leave the house, check the organizer's own page, because the organizer outranks any calendar listing. An AI is good at finding the disagreement, and a live page is what settles it.

Reply with questions; they become future AI Corner topics.
