What's happening with Davenport Neck? City Council takes up the zoning changes Tuesday a public hearing on the rules that would shape the Surf Club waterfront (2 min)

Friends, Tuesday is the one to watch. Westfair reports the City Council is expected to hold a hearing Tuesday, September 8 on proposed zoning changes for Davenport Neck, the peninsula where a 64-unit condominium project has been proposed on the Surf Club property.

The draft changes would raise the minimum lot size for multifamily buildings from 1 acre to 4, add a $35,000-per-unit fee for new multifamily projects to fund infrastructure, and require homes to sit above the 100-year flood level. Marinas would top out at 36 feet, and small inns and restaurants with outdoor dining would be allowed by special permit.

If the neck matters to you, this is the meeting to catch. Whatever gets said Tuesday lands here in Wednesday's issue, plain-English and sourced. 🤎

Nothing broke overnight. No active National Weather Service alerts for Westchester County, and no new road or utility advisories logged for New Rochelle as of this morning.

Quiet is the story we can verify. When the next storm or closure lands, it leads this section the same morning.
